Ford Transit Shelving Packages

Ford Transit Van Shelving Packages

There are many reasons the Ford Transit van is the bestselling commercial van in the United States. You can configure it in 60 different ways. When you purchase a high roof option, someone as tall as 6’5” can stand in the cargo area. The van is available with dual sliding doors and rear cargo doors that open to almost 180 degrees, so it’s easy to get your tools or your cargo in or out of a Ford Transit.

Meanwhile, the Ford Transit has been one of the most popular commercial vans for years. It also offers rear cargo doors with 180 degrees of clearance, or you can get it with a rear liftgate. The Ford Transit features excellent gas mileage – 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway.

All in all, the Ford Transit is an excellent choice for your business regardless of the industry in which you work.

Why Invest in Shelving for Your Ford Transit Van?

If you want to make the most of your cargo area in a Ford Transit van, Advantage Outfitters has various shelving packages that will help you organize your workspace and work more efficiently, even if you need Ford Transit high roof shelving sets. Here are some of the most notable advantages of getting Ford Transit van shelving.

1. Know Where You Can Find the Right Tool

Without shelving in your Ford Transit van, you’re probably tossing your tools in the back of your cargo space. This bad habit can lead to enormous frustration when you’re trying to find the right tool to solve a client’s problem. Organizing the content in your cargo area with shelving will ensure you have a designated spot for everything, so you can quickly have it on hand.

Your cargo area is your workstation. With a custom set of shelving, you can finish each job faster and with greater efficiency. Staying organized also helps you provide quality service for your customers. If you consistently keep your tools in easy-to-reach positions, you will forget to bring things less often and do a better job of coordinating your services.

2. Increase Productivity

As soon as you complete one job, it’s time to move on to another one. Installing shelving means you’ll get your current job finished sooner, since you won’t need to go back and forth to your van in the constant search for the right tool. You will always know where tools and equipment are in your cargo area, allowing you to adapt to unexpected circumstances more easily. Having better organization with custom shelving also helps you optimize your storage space, so you can avoid having to make return trips to the shop for additional supplies.

Shelving helps you save precious minutes on every job. Those minutes add up and could allow you to get in an extra job or two each week, which means more income for you or your company.

3. Save Money on Tools

When you carelessly toss everything in the back of your van without any organizational plan, it can be challenging, if not impossible, to find what you're looking for. This tendency can lead to many “lost” tools. Also, if someone borrows or takes a tool, you can never be confident you still have it if you aren't sure where it's supposed to be.

Storing your tools securely with shelving offers better protection for your valuable equipment. Better storage means fewer replacements, and that adds up to more money saved. Having a professional level of organization for your cargo area also keeps your tools in good condition. Your tools will stay in place instead of flying around in the back, banging into each other and lowering their quality.

4. Reduce the Chances of Being Injured by Loose Tools

Regardless of what type of vehicle you drive, sooner or later, you’ll have to come to a sudden stop. If you’re driving a work van with a pile of loose tools in the back, slamming on the brakes can be dangerous. Tools can come flying up to the front and possibly injure you or your employees.

When you stow your tools with shelving, and you put a partition between the driver’s area and the cargo area, you’ve eliminated this possible hazard. Using shelving and other work van accessories can reduce hazards and help lower your risk of work-related accidents.

5. Reduce Noise

Driving around all day with a pile of loose tools can make quite a racket. It’s not unusual for someone driving a work van in this situation to have a headache by the end of the workday. Better shelving and a partition reduce noise, which means you and your employees will remain fresh and alert throughout the day.

With your tools securely placed on the shelving, your quieter cargo area will create a more comfortable environment for employees to focus on driving and getting to job sites. All that rattling around adversely affects your tools and your workers, and shelf sets can easily prevent it.

Ford Transit Shelving Packages and Reliable Transit Shelves

Need racks and bins to fit your Ford Transit van or vans? The right combination of shelves, bins and racks can decrease the risk of damage to your valuable tools and supplies and make them easier to access while helping you get more storage out of your commercial vans. We offer many different Transit shelving packages to fit general use or more industry-specific needs.

  • Transit general service packages: These are available in steel with a partition, or in aluminum without a partition. Depending on which you choose, these shelving systems can include shelves, bins, rattle-free dividers, a locking cabinet, cabinets with drawers and more ways to keep your tools and supplies securely stowed for transport to the customer site.
  • Ford Transit shelves: These are customizable to suit your specific industry. We offer packages tailored to meet the needs of HVAC, plumbing and locksmith companies — our HVAC and plumbing offerings are available in steel and aluminum with and without partitions, while our locksmith package is available in aluminum without a partition.
  • Our inventory: We provide products that fit a diverse range of commercial vehicles. Even if you buy a different make and model, we can still help. We’re happy to work with you to determine which of our products would help make your vans more convenient to use.

How to Choose the Right Racks and Bins for Your Ford Transit

Shelving sets can help make your cargo area functional and efficient, but you can use other accessories to complete your work van's professional quality. An excellent way to store your tools or cargo is to include the right rack in your Ford Transit van. Racks are ideal for stowing items that may not fit comfortably or fully on a shelf.

When you combine racks and bins, you can provide excellent storage for all the items you need, decrease the chances of damaged tools and easily reach essential items. Shelving sets function entirely independently, but they work best in combination with these other accessories.

What Do Ford Transit Shelving Packages Include?

We have Ford Transit shelving packages available for 130” WB and 148” WB models. These packages will vary depending on your industry. We offer shelving packages for electricians, plumbers/HVAC technicians, locksmiths and those who work in general service industries or who are interested in a base package.

Ranger Design creates all our shelving units. The partitions offered in the shelving packages are also from Ranger Design and include the choice between a straight design and a swing door design.

Our industry-specific shelving packages are available in either steel or aluminum. Each package includes a partition with the shelving.

1. Base and General Service Shelving Packages

For Ford Transit vans with a 130” or 148” WB, we offer base packages in steel for low, medium and high roofs. Assembly time for a beginner takes half an hour to an hour, depending on the model, while installation time takes about three hours. All three versions include a partition.

Our general services packages come in steel for low, medium and high roofs. These packages include a partition, galvanized steel end panels and aluminum shelving, with the hardware and mounting brackets you need. You can assemble them in about an hour and install them in just under three hours.

We also have aluminum packages for a medium or high roof and the 148” WB extended model. These packages take about 2 hours to assemble and about three hours to install. The aluminum packages do not include a partition.

2. Plumbing and HVAC Shelving Packages

We offer steel packages for Ford Transits with 130” or 148” WB for low, medium and high roofs. These are ideal for plumbing or HVAC needs and include a partition. It takes just under two hours to assemble these packages and just under four hours to install.

There are also separate aluminum options for plumbing and HVAC, which do not include partitions. These options are available for the 130” WB with a medium roof and 148” WB with medium or high roofs. They take about two hours to assemble and between three and three and a half hours to install.

For the 148” WB extended van, there are separate aluminum options for plumbing and HVAC which do not include partitions. Plumbing packages have an extra shelf on the passenger side with additional bins. HVAC packages feature refrigerant racks.

3. Electrician Shelving Packages

For electricians who use Ford Transit vans, we have steel options for low, medium and high roofs. Assembly takes about two hours, and installation takes about three hours.

We also offer two aluminum options. One is for 130” WB vans with medium roofs or 148” WB vans with medium or high roofs. The other aluminum option is for the 148” WB extended model. The aluminum packages do not include a partition. You can assemble either package in about three hours and install it in three to four hours.

4. Delivery Van Shelving Packages

If you use your Ford transit van to make general deliveries, Advantage Outfitters has a couple of options for you in shelving packages. These packages are available for medium or high roofs.

Both packages are aluminum and feature folding shelves, so they're clear of the aisle when you don't need them. The shelves are 20” deep and can hold 40 pounds per linear foot. Assembly takes three hours, and installation takes just under two hours.

Shelving Material Options - Steel vs. Aluminum

Should you use steel or aluminum in your Ford Transit van? That depends on your primary needs. If you keep a close eye on fuel costs, especially if your van covers a wide service area, aluminum is probably your better choice. It weighs less and gives you better gas mileage, so it’s ideal if you do a lot of driving in the city.

Steel is an excellent option if you need to pay less upfront cost. Plus, most of our steel options include a partition, which will help you keep costs down, since you won’t have to buy one separately. Steel shelving is also useful if you often work in areas with poorly maintained roads. If part of your coverage area includes more rural communities, steel shelving will help protect your tools and drivers.

Regardless, either option is a solid choice for shelving in your Ford Transit van.

Dimensions of the Ford Transit Vans

First seen on the roads of North America in 1965, the fourth-generation Ford Transit vans have been in operation since 2013. Let’s look at some of their dimensions.

  • Wheelbase: The Ford Transit vans are available with three different wheelbases — 130” on regular models and 148” on long models and or 148” extended wheelbase models.
  • Length: Ford Transit vans come in lengths from 218” to 266”.
  • Width: Smaller Ford Transit vans are 81” wide, while larger vans can be as wide as 84”.
  • Height: Height is where the Ford Transit van stands out. Heights in a Ford Transit van start at 82” in smaller models, with larger models reaching 110”.
  • Engine and transmission: Ford Transit vans offer a choice between a 3.7 L Ti-VCT V-6 engine or a 3.5 L Eco-Boost. Ford Transit vans come with a six-speed automatic transmission.

How to Install Racks and Bins Shelving in Your Ford Transit Van

We talked a bit above about the installation times for the various shelving options we sell for Ford Transit vans. In some cases, you will spend as little as half an hour assembling a package to just under five hours to install one. But most of our packages take between one and a half hours and three hours to assemble and two to four hours to install. That includes shelving racks and bins. How long it takes depends upon the configuration you want.

It's a breeze to install shelving in your Ford Transit van.

Other Products Available for Your Ford Transit Van

Now that you’ve reviewed how many excellent shelving packages are available for Ford Transit vans, you might want to learn more about the other high-quality products we offer to protect your van and improve your work productivity.

  • Wall liners: Wall liners protect the inside of your van. They prevent bumps and scratches that can reduce your Ford Transit van's resale value when the time comes to sell and get a new one. Remember, Ford Transit vans have some of the best resale values on the market, so you want to make sure you keep yours in good shape.
  • Floors and mats: If you spent a lot of time working in your van, you know how easy it is to get stains and oily messes on your floor. And when it gets wet, it can get quite slippery. Shop the flooring and rubber mats available through Advantage Outfitters. They help protect vans from stains and spills and give you better traction when you’re moving around in the cargo area.
  • Partitions and dividers: While many of our shelving packages include partitions or dividers, some don’t. We also sell partitions and dividers separately to protect you or your drivers from any loose tools or other items that could suddenly fly up from the back toward the cab and help reduce the noise created by tools and accessories that many drivers find so annoying. Our dividers are lightweight but tough and durable and can be custom-sized to fit your van.
